Front end? What is that?
In short, front end is a term used in software architecture.
The Wikipedia definition for the front end is "an interface between the user and the back end". The recent front end movement emphasizes the importance of user interface in online services. It's all about the conversion towards standardized (HTML5, CSS3) cross-platform (PC, tablets and smartphones) online service development. It's also about the conversion from page-based web towards actual user interfaces.
We believe the Finnish online industry would benefit greatly from an open and strong front end community.
We believe that frontend.fi is the catalyst needed to create that strong community.
Why in English?
It's a fact that the Finnish IT industry includes many non-Finnish speakers.
Furthermore, we wanted to avoid creating a Finglish nightmare by mixing English and Finnish content.
